Service Description: This layer displays potential, inventoried, and remediated abandoned mine features based on United States Geological Survey (USGS mapped mine locations from USGS' USMin database, which have been obfuscated by Department of Conservation (DOC) for the protection of people and wildlife. For every mine feature shown, DOC estimates there are 3 or more additional features. There is no comprehensive dataset of mines, inventory, or remediation. Several local, state and federal agencies are responsible for the oversight and administration of abandoned mine lands.
