Description: 4/12/2021 Updated around the Levine Building, using a .dwg and C500 a georeferenced pdf, field verification is needed. 3/20/2019Field edits with Duane Reese. Removed incorrect line between Garwood and the Parking deck, removed abandoned propane tank front of Garwood. It should be removed later after spring 2019. 7/17/2018 This, feature class was updated with a 2017 survey. The Old High School property was surveyed by Timothy W. Caldwell License number L-5232, September 27, 2017, Mattern & Crag Engineers and Surveyors. Data is considered 90% accurate, and data was collected between 8/ 5-18 / 2017. All coordinates are based on NCGS NAD/83/ 2011 and all elevations are based on NAVD 88. 9/15/2017 It was noticed editor tracker was not turned on the RAI natural gas lines until 9/14/2017.3/3/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.Natural gas is flammable gas, consisting largely of methane and other hydrocarbons, occurring naturally underground. This is an underground natural gas CAD file provided by Appalachian State University, Frontier Gas, and modified into a shapefile by Woodard & Curran, Rochester & Associates, Inc. This dataset contains 206 section of underground gas lines, with a total length of 244,337 feet. There are four columns that are left blank or are represented as all zeros they are: Name, Layer, Length, Shape_Leng. In the Source column all are listed as Frontier Natural Gas, and in the COUNTY column all are listed as Watauga. In the MUNICIPALI (municipality) column noting is listed in 38 of the line segments the remaining 168 has the Town of Boone listed. The YEARINSTAL (year installed) column has 56 segments that have no date, 1 segment installed in 2003, 1 segment installed in 2004, 51 segments installed in 2009, 18 segments installed in 2010, 28 segments installed in 2011, 7 segments installed in 2012, 35 segments installed in 2013, and 9 segments installed in 2014. It is assumed the Column MAINWO describes all the work-orders associated with the installation of the underground pipeline, all have an 8 to 10-digit number; however, 58 of the line segments do not have a work-order associated with them. The MAINPROJEC column describes the project where the gas lines are installed such as Bubbles Car Wash and App Hospitality, again 60 line segments do not have a project name. The Column FIREDIST places each line segment in their appropriate fire district which are: 3 pipe segments have no fire district and a total length of 12916 feet, 178 pipe segments are in the Boone fire district with a total length of 160,408 feet, 6 pipe segments are in the Boone Rural fire district with a total length of 5860 feet, and 19 pipe segments are in the Deep Gap fire district with a total length of 160,408 feet. The underground gas pipes are made of two different types of pipe as seen in the MATERIAL column 13 sections are made of steel (STL) with a total length of 82,296 feet and the type is mainly a transmission, with sizes ranging 1, 2,6, and 10 inches. The other type of pipe represented in this dataset is polyethylene (PE) a flexible plastic type pipe with a total length of 159,039 feet. 193 sections of this pipe are found in this dataset the type is listed as main and sizes range from 2,4, and 6 inches. The DESIGNATIO column (destination) has limited entries which include (3) T-13, S-7, RIDE WITH PRIDE, (3) D-112, D-102, and BLUE SKIES. The GWORKS column describes the type of and diameter in inches of the line segment which are: (1) blank total length 32 feet, (1) 10S (steel, SLV) total length 17,751 feet, (1) 1S (steel, SLV) total length 207 feet, (118) 2P (polyethylene, PE) total length 64,221 feet, (3) 2S (steel, SLV) total length 151 feet, (58) 4P (polyethylene, PE) total length 59,659 feet, (17) 6P (polyethylene, PE) total length 35,159 feet, and (7) 6S (steel, SLV) total length 67,156 feet.Natural gas is flammable gas, consisting largely of methane and other hydrocarbons, occurring naturally underground. In this dataset 145 lines were geolocated with a total length of 61,638 feet, no data describes how and when these lines were located. The following columns are left blank: MATERIAL, TYPE, DESIGNATION, GWORKS, FIREDIST, MAINPROJECT, MAINWO, YEARINSTAL, MUNICIPALI, and COUNTY. The SIZE column has limited entries which include: (1) 8INCH, (7) 6INCH, (1) 5 INCH, (5) 4INCH, 2.5 INCH, and (3) 10INCH. The Source is listed as RAI. In the Name column, 44 lines are listed as GAS 2 with a total length of 21,268 feet, 100 lines are listed as S--F-GAS-LINE with a total length of 39,570 feet, and 1 line has no listing with a total length of 799 feet. In the layer column 45 of the lines have not name, 62 of the lines are named S--F-GAS-LINE, and 38 of the lines are named S--F-GAS-LINE-APPROX. The columns Length and Shape_Leng both are inconsistent; either missing data or rounding data to the whole number or the tenths place. It appears all correct line lengths are found in column Shape_Length. Frontier Natural Gas, Art Rex the Director Space Management and Planning, and Woodard & Curran, Rochester & Associates, Inc.
