The document tree is shown below.NC Dept. of Information Technology, Government Data Analytics Center, Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, NCDOT GIS Branch, NC Floodplain Mapping Program201311Statewide Elevation Contours - 2 Foot Intervalvector digital dataRaleigh, North CarolinaNC DOT - GIS UnitNCCGIA distributes this datasethttp://www.nconemap.govStatewide elevation contours for all 100 NC counties. Contours are based on 20 foot DEM grid cells generated from LIDAR.Use is intended for general purpose display of contour data for all counties in North Carolina and to assist governmental agencies and others in making resource management decisions through use of a Geographic Information System (GIS).Consumers should not expect the contours to be exact and may contain small errors over open water or sound areas. The vertical datum used is NAVD 88. The accuracy of the LIDAR is about 25cm (10 inches), however, using two foot contours may be pushing data beyond the intended accuracy.201311publication dateCompleteAs Needed-84.417-75.38236.60233.785ISO 19115 Topic CategoryelevationNonecontourcontoursLiDARelevationcontour linecontour linesWilliam S. LIDAR data is maintained by the Flood Mapping Program. Elevation products generated by NCDOT-GIS Unit. Data made available by the NC Center for Geographic Information and Analysis, through NC OneMap.Microsoft Windows 2000 Version 5.0 (Build 2195) Service Pack 4; ESRI ArcCatalog 9.2.1.1332
None.Contours are complete statewide. Line generalization occurred to create smoother contour lines.Consumers should not expect the contours to be exact. The vertical datum used is NAVD 88, but the accuracy of the LIDAR is about 25cm or about 10 inches, however, using two foot contours may be pushing data beyond the intended accuracy. To build contours, Integer grids were used to allow for faster processing. The integer grid is rounded to the nearest 1/10th of a foot. A filter is run to reduce extreme elevation changes. A resample is done to create smoother contour lines. The input grid is also buffered by 1 mile to produce lines that are edgematched and avoid removing valid short lines. In mountainous areas the contours must be done with an 20 foot interval to avoid memory errors. Merge all the contours together to create a complete file.20070701Bill MillerNCDOTProgrammerMailing
