Description: Gentlemen,
It was good to meet you yesterday. We look forward to working with each of you and your teams to complete this small cell project for the ASU campus in Boone. The following are my notes from yesterday's meeting.
Node Construction
Nick Katers, Telcad (Gene and Donntay), Scott Eggers, Thomas Russell and Tom Van Gilder will meet Tuesday at 10:00 am to walk some of the suspect nodes on campus to determine final locations or move to a later date of installation.
We need to determine if the small cellular nodes on campus need a permit from the Town of Boone. We can discuss this item at our Tuesday meeting with the Town of Boone. If you all have an answer to this question please let me know.
The Wireless Attachment Agreement between App State/New River and Blue Ridge/RidgeLink should be completed by early next week for ASU’s review. Any poles installed on the ASU campus will be owned by ASU. The wireless attachments on these poles will be RidgeLink attachments on behalf of Verizon. Troubleshooting of node issues will start with Blue Ridge/RidgeLink, which will in turn call for Verizon support. The sites are monitored so any signal issues will be known by the vendor.
Any New River poles identified on campus as collocation opportunities will be constructed with the help of New River construction crews. We will reach out to New River for pricing once all sites are finalized.
Fiber Optic Construction
Matt Makdad, Scott Eggers, Thomas Russell and Nick Katers(or team member) will review the conduit diagram on campus to determine which small cell nodes are close to existing fiber conduit and out of the way of new construction on campus.
ASU, New River and Blue Ridge/RidgeLink will determine the best locations for interconnects to the RidgeLink fiber network once the fiber leaves the ASU campus.
All fiber and conduits to each node on campus will be owned by ASU/New River.
We will need a cost of construction of fiber to each node on campus to put with the total cost of the project.
Blue Ridge/RidgeLink will lease the last mile of fiber to each node on campus as part of the total project cost.
A Fiber Lease Agreement will need to be drafted between ASU and RidgeLink. ASU can provide that Agreement or RidgeLink can provide a Fiber Lease Agreement for both parties’ review.
