3/18/2021 This feature class was updated with a Georeferenced PDF C401, of Sanford Hall, and a site visit 3/17/2021. The purpose of the visit was to collect newly planted trees for the tree feature class. Hopefully a drawing file will be available to further correct infrastructure.

10/20/2020 Update Major
Fiber and electrical are being installed October 2020 at ASU Water Plant. While the ditches are open I collected images and exact location with a high accuracy GPS, EOS Arrow Gold the afternoon of 10/14/2020. The GPS worked very well in open sky, accuracy .2-.4 of an Inch; however, beside structures and under tree canopy the accuracy fell to around 6 feet After this data is imported into the GIS Portal attribution will follow from Facilities Electrical Department and Tec Support. While I was there I also collected obvious above ground structure. See below email string:

Eddie,
ASU Electrical shop has been installing some infrastructure at the Water Plant on Rainbow Trail for some security cameras I believe. They are in the process of backfilling the trenches now.
We thought you might want to GIS those ditches for future reference. If you could do it this week while digging is fresh would be best.
Edward HyleWed, Oct 14, 2:06 PM (21 hours ago)Sure, when do you need me come by, and what am I looking at?
Michael GreeneWed, Oct 14, 2:22 PM (20 hours ago)to me
We are putting 2-1" PVC from entrance gate all the way around the building to the exit gate for security cameras. There is a total of about 650' of ditch. It is open as of today but we will be backfilling tomorrow. If possible, it would be best to come out early in the morning tomorrow. Call me at (828)964-1698. I will have to open the gate to let you in if you are before 8:00. Let me know if you have any questions.

I would like to see it open I can come by in a bit.

I think anytime would work. You may want to contact Michael Greene (copied in this email) for more details as they are actually doing the work.

Hello all,
I have gotten all of the ditches located and photographed as needed. Please give me a day or so to get is data into the GIS Portal to be viewed, then we can further attribute the data further.
Thanks,
Eddie

The Endzone, Raven Rocks, Laurel Hill, and Thunder Hill area has been updated 10/2/2020, from an As Built .dwg converted into feature classes. This conversion was done 7/12/2019. Field work was also done to fact check some of the features, as construction continues. As more information becomes available more edits will be done. Since Raven Rocks and Thunder Hill have been completed I thought they need to be represented. I should soon receive the finalized .dwg from the contactors. This is a living feature class that is edited and updated as information becomes available.

These features were updated using a Bid Package 2, May 9, 2016, Page 21 C302, CERT. NO. 50417. This PDF was georeferenced, using ArcMap 10.8.1 on 9/24/2020 using known landmarks, and completed fieldwork from the fall of 2018. These updates may be changed again once the finalized DWG files are released. All associated documentation.

Using new photography and the retaining wall feature class, as well as others, I have snapped surrounding features together as they should be. This procedure has taken sometime and I am sure I have missed some things but the vector basemap looks much cleaner now. I would have thought Rochester would have done this for us as a final draft of their services. All of the line features that should be a closed item are now. As I run across others they will be corrected as well.
08/17/2017 The appropriate polygons were named and edited, random polygons were omitted.
10/12/2017 Imported into the SDE.
3/3/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.
In this dataset 96 polygons were remotely sensed, throughout the Boone area, using aerial photography. 75 polygons are listed as X-DRIVEWAY, or paved driveways, 10 polygons are listed as X-UNPAVED_DRIVE meaning an unpaved driveway. The remaining 11 polygons have no listing. With knowledge of the area there are a few mislabeled driveways, either paved and should be unpaved or vice versa. Other listed driveways are just single track trails in the woods. As of 07/28/2016, there is no information about when this data was acquired. Many have nothing to do with Appalachian State University. The useful part of this feature class has been absorbed into the paved and unpaved parking feature classes.

2/16/2022 Updated Parcel 2910-66-8824-000 State Farm, to match county parcel after a zoom meeting with Michelle Novacek, she was working on selling a piece of the property along the South Fork of The New river for bridge access to the Town of Boone. This reach was not in the current dataset, but the entire polygon now matches the state and county GIS. A CAD copy has also be sent to NRLP.
2/5/2021 Updated the Water Plant Polygon to match the TOBand Watauga County GIS, no offical survey was found.

Please only use parcel

We're negotiating with the owner right now so this exhibit A isn't correct, but using that small parcel indicated above is good enough.
(We actually overlap a little on either side, but the owner doesn't want that to be official.)

The 2000 plat of the Turchin Center NRLP does not match the Watauga County parcel map. I made a call to Chris Miller with the Town of Boone and he said to summit the updated survey to the county. Michael Stamey with NRLP mapping decided this was not an issue and for me not to worry about it. He said the county does not care if ASU property lines are not right since we don’t pay taxes. This was a result of a question from Michelle Novacek and who owns what.
11/02/2017 Received a CAD survey of the Old Watauga High School site from Mattern & Craig Engineers and Surveyors. The CAD was issued 9/27/2017, drawn by JAD surveyed by TWC. These CAD lines were converted into GIS polygons and used to update the SDE property lines. There is one question the parcel COMMON AREA B P24/027, Old Watauga High School, 2900-92-4878-000 was not surveyed. Is this parcel not ours?
10/6/17 I finished editing the Henson Property to match the NRLP CAD map I have attached relevant PDFS to the parcel in question. A python script was run to place all documents into a single relevant folder.
10/3/17 I edited the Henson property line located to the west of the Old Broyhill Inn site. This was to match the edited CAD map line that was corrected using existing deeds from Watauga County and ASU legal department Daton Cole from the spring of this year.
3/17/2017 This feature class has been updated using the NRLP properties list, web GIS maps from Ashe, Wilkes, Catawba, Caldwell, Watauga, TOB, and NYC. More tweaking may be necessary.
2/20/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.
In this dataset provided by New River Light & Power there are 30 polygons, with a Shape_Length of 119,104 feet and a Shape_Area of 810 acres. Some of the polygons (areas) has been surveyed, while others have not; therefore, most of the property lines are approximated. XY Tolerance is 1 meter.
The NRLP Main Office / Winklers Creek Road Substation was added using the aerial photograph 09/01/2016 by Edward Hyle.
