Description: November 23, 2015 by Greg BazhawThe block data came from the Maptitude Redistricting effort from 2011. In those blocks (ccBlock) were population and race tabulations. The fields pulled from there into these data were the Block Number, Total Population and selected Race categories to match the redistricting statistics (Hispanic and Non-Hispanic White, Black, Indian, Asian, Hawaiian, Other, 2 or more Races), and Housing Units.Added to the blocks were full and summary tabulations from Table P12 (sex by age), and summary tabulations from Table P19 (households and families).Table P12, Sex by Age:The Male and Female categories were combined, and then the age categories were combined to simplify the number of categories. Table P12 field names are D001, D002, etc. To simplify here, only the numbers will be used. The calculations followed these formats:The first grouping of age numbers are a direct import from Table P12, with only the field names changed, thus:[AgeUnder_5] = 1[Age_5_9] = 2...[Age_85_Up] = 49Following the direct import tabulations, we created two groups of summary tabulations, beginning with:[Age_5_17] = [Age_5_9]+[Age_10_14]+[Age_15_17] and ending with:[Age_80_Up] = [Age_80_84]+[Age_85_Up]Table P19, Households and Family:Table P19 field names are D001, D002, etc. To simplify here, only the numbers will be used.[SinglePerson_HH] = 2 (One Person Households)[Married_Child_HH] = 8 (Married Couples, with own Children under 18)[Married_NoChild_HH] = 9 (Married Couples, no own Children under 18)[SingleParent_Child_HH] = 12+15 (Single Parents, with own Children under 18)[OtherFamily_HH] = 13+16 (Other Family, with no own Children under 18).[OtherNonFamily_HH] = 17 (Other Non Family Households) Must add this to SinglePerson_HH to get the census defined Nonfamily Households.IMPORTANT NOTE: Census defines Nonfamily households as people living alone AND households which do not have any members related to the householder. Therefore, to get the true count of NonFamily Households, the fields [SinglePerson_HH] + [OtherNonFamily_HH] must be used.====================All fields beginning with PCT are percents of the appropriate category. Thus,All PCTs with Age Categories are the percent of that age category against the total Population. For example [PCT_Hispanic] = [Hispanic_Origin] / [Population]For example [PCT_18_20] = [Age_18_20] / [Population]All PCTs with Household Categories are the percent of that household category against the total Households. For example [PCT_SingleParent_Child_HH] = [SingleParent_Child_HH] / [TotalHH]
