Service Description: GIS data representation of floodplain area in the City of Dallas and some of its surrounding areas. The data was updated in early 2021. The floodplain data was primarily obtained from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and updated based on several studies conducted by the city through vendors. An up-to-date floodplain area information for the city is a key component in protecting life and property and to support the City’s participation in the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Description:

The city has conducted several studies to provide up-to-date floodplain area information for the City of Dallas to assist in protecting life and property and to support the City’s participation in the FEMA NFIP program. This information is vital for several city entities including, but not limited to, Zoning, Sustainable Development and Construction, Building Inspection, Parks, Dallas Water Utilities, and all prospective homeowners and developers who need the most updated information to make informed decisions regarding the risks and costs associated with each property. Update Frequency: As Needed.
