Description: Census tracts were downloaded and then screened out as being either inside or on the edges of the City of Dallas TX. The original source is the US Census Bureau.
The Office of Resilience then calculated a vulnerability score based on the following:
Methodology
Data was analyzed for each area in the city limits, assessed against the key questions below, and assigned a risk score (5:Highest Risk à 0: No Risk).
- Do Black, Hispanic and Native American populations together make up more than 70% of the community?
- Does the area have 15% or more of its families at or below 100% of the federal poverty level?
- Do less than 50% of the area’s households own the home they live in?
- Is the area rated “High” on the CDC’s Social Vulnerability Index, Socioeconomic Level?
- Are more than 12% of the area’s residents 65 or older?
