Buildings represent the rooflines for permanent buildings within the District of Saanich. They include Bike Shelter, Bus Shelter, Civic, Community, Correctional Facility, Fire, Golf Course,Hospital, Library, Museum, Park, Place of Worship, Pump Station, Recreation, Reservoir,School, Shopping, & Under Construction building types. Buildings were last updated using May 2023 aerial photography. Clipped to Gordon Head. Building heights calculated by subtracting a digital elevation model heights from digital surface model heights. Zoning represents areas that comprise all land use zones within the District of Saanich. A zone regulates the use of land and the location, use, size and shape of buildings and structures erected thereon (Saanich Zoning Bylaw #8200). For example, a zone can regulate minimum lot area and/or frontage length for building a house or other building, maximum building size, or minimum setbacks from a lot boundary for building a structure.
