Any village, town, or city located along the State’s coast or designated inland waterways can prepare a new, or amend an existing, LWRP to address local revitalization issues in the context of broader strategies and initiatives such as regional economic development strategies and resource protection and management. This dataset was created by selecting municipalities that have an approved LWRP from the “NYS Civil Boundaries” dataset provided by the NYS GIS Program Office. Selected polygons were then exported as a separate GIS layer. For wide accessibility, all LWRPs approved by the NYS Secretary of State are publicly available, pursuant to Article 42 of the NYS Executive Law.

Purpose: This dataset highlights the communities with an approved Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP).
