Service Description: Based on the information gathered in the Ocean Study, DOS developed “baseline criteria” to identify offshore areas that should be excluded from initial offshore wind projects. These baseline criteria include: shipping lanes with a 1 nautical mile buffer, hazardous waste disposal sites, regulated airspace, and a 12 nautical mile coastal buffer.
