Description: Farmers markets are one way people have access to healthy food. This map shows where the farmers markets are. The map is designed to answer the question: how many American live within a reasonable walk or drive to a supermarket. For analysis purposes a 10 minute drive time and a 1 mile walk time will be used to determine “reasonable”. In the following lesson you will be asked to select three counties. The counties can represent different geographic areas in your state or you can choose to compare counties from other states. After selecting your counties you will derive the 10 minute drive time and 1 mile walk time from each supermarket within the counties. Additional demographic information depicting income levels will be added for further analysis.
