This layer supercedes the 2017 version. NRS town boundaries where population is less than 500 are not captured and are thus insufficient for considering issues of rural sustainability and development. For conservation, preservation, ecological and biodiversity programmes requiring distiction between urban and rural domains this city-region-wide settlement layer was created. It draws upon NRS and additionally Local Development Plan sources in order to create an urban layer that also incorporates towns with population less than 500.
Some town boundaries overlap and may change if not adopted after proposal.
This layer is derived data and will require OS licence agreement to share or publish.
This dataset illustrates the eight local authorities within the Glasgow & Clyde Valley SDPA. The boundaries have been taken from the Ordnance Survey's Boundary Line product. An alteration has been made to the boundary line data in the Inverclyde Local Authority. Please see dataset history for further details.
