Description: The ICC was developed by Field Museum ecologists with USAID and partners in Peru. The index was designed to visually demonstrate progress toward the implementation of a national park in the Andes-Amazon in Peru. It reviews both protected landscape (inside
the park) and the human landscape (villages outside, neighboring the park).
This index was then adapted for the Chicago Region to...
• Assesses conservation compatibility of a unit of land, inside and outside protected areas
• Tracks both Institutional and Operational components
• Provides a framework for visualizing annual and long-term
goals
• Serves as a practical, landscape-level monitoring and planning tool
This spatial dataset provides a 0-4 index value for Institutional, Operational and combined components. By default we symbolize the Institutional value.
