Description: Mobile County Public Works maintains a set of Municipal Boundaries within Mobile County. These boundaries are entirely dependent upon the currency and correctness of the information provided to Mobile County Public Works by the municipalities, including original legal descriptions of those boundaries and subsequent annexations to the municipalities.The field "Place_Name" indicates the municipality and date (if not the current boundary) superceded by a newer boundary. The City of Mobile boundaries populated with "Mobile 1814, Mobile 1889, Mobile 1897, Mobile 1915, Mobile 1923, Mobile 1930, Mobile 1931, Mobile 1945, Mobile 1956, Mobile 1960, Mobile 1961, Mobile 1967, Mobile 1968, Mobile 1983, Mobile 1985, Mobile 1986, Mobile 1991, Mobile 1993, Mobile 1996, Mobile 1998, Mobile 2004, Mobile 2007, Mobile 2008, and Mobile 2015" are derived from a shapefile of City of Mobile Annexations shapefile downloaded from the shared data website on 9/22/2016, and stored at: P:\Gis\DATA Provided to MoCo GIS\City of Mobile\City Limit\CITYLIMITHISTORY\CITYLIMITHISTORY.shp. The year indicated is the year of the annexations that added area to the previous boundary. There were no "deannexations" present in the City of Mobile shapefile, so those occurrences are not indicated.The boundaries for the City of Mobile, City of Saraland, and City of Semmes were provided to Mobile County Public Works by those municipalities.
