Abstract: Building outlines defining the extent of permanent building or structures, captured from high resolution aerial photography. Data was originally captured from 2008 photography and in some areas (e.g. North Shore) updates have been made to match 2010 imagery. In some areas (e.g. Rodney) there have been updates made from building consent plans |
Purpose: The intended use of the dataset is for
The building footprint dataset is intended for flood hazard modelling and to inform planning and consenting, and for map display. |
Lineage: Data was originally digitised from 2008 orthophotography, with an estimated accuracy of +/-0.3m. In most areas data capture was carried out under contract by Terralink International Ltd. In some areas (e.g. North Shore) updates have been made to match 2010 imagery. In some areas (e.g. Rodney) there have been updates made from building consent plans. In some areas the dataset was briefly maintained based on site plans, in other areas re-capture may be done to match new imagery NSCC captured from scratch using 2010/2011 aerials to well defined capture rules.. RDC existing data updated using 2010/2011 aerials to well defined capture rules. WCC existing was updated using 2010/2011 aerials to well defined capture rules ACC, MCC, RDC and FDC existing data updated using 2010/2011 aerials. Due to constraints rules were changed to capture the missing and delete the existing footprints that were no longer required. Objects were not moved or reshaped to fit the imagery. Data is current to the date of 2010/ 2011 aerial photography Attributing has not been part of the Capture and update project and will be addressed separately. Dataset maintenance method is yet to be finalised The field RECORDSTATUS records buildings that have been demolished/removed for those areas where building footprint data has been maintained from site plans. Such buildings should be excluded when only existed buildings are wanted. |
Creation Date: October, 2012. |
Update Cycle: Planned from new aerials every 2 years. |
