Service Description: The Forest Preserve District of Will County was created by referendum on July 25, 1927, to preserve the County's fast-dwindling wilderness and open spaces for the benefit of future generations. The District's GIS datasets support that mission by providing accurate information on its available resources, including forest preserves, trails, and amenities, for planning and informational uses.

Description: This feature class describes the locations of amenities located on property owned, managed, or leased by the District. Amenities enhance the experience of the public and District staff when visiting forest preserves by providing convenience (e.g. trash receptacles or benches) or operational support (e.g. fuel tanks). This feature class provides a cartographic representation of those amenities that supports the ability of District staff to plan for their installation, maintenance, and removal.
