Of the 10 National Parks in England, Northumberland National Park is the most northerly, most remote from large urban areas, least visited and least populated. There are an additional 3 National Parks in Wales and 3 in Scotland. National Parks are run by National Park Authorities for the purpose of conserving and enhancing the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage and to provide opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the Park by the public.
