Population_risk_in_traffic_pollution_WFL1 (FeatureServer)

Service Description: I have conducted a zonal statistics analysis to estimate the number of people at risk from traffic pollution in the six New York counties of Nassau, Queens, Kings, New York, Richmond, and Bronx. To do this, I have used population data and traffic pollution data to create zones that represent areas with different levels of population and pollution exposure. By conducting the zonal statistics analysis, I have been able to estimate the exact number of people who are at risk from traffic pollution in each county. This analysis is important because it allows us to identify the specific areas where people are most vulnerable to the harmful effects of air pollution from traffic. By understanding the scale and scope of this problem, we can develop targeted strategies to reduce exposure to pollution and improve public health outcomes in these areas.

Description:

Published: August 2022

A vector polygon GIS file of all county boundaries in New York State. The file was originally a compilation of U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale digital vector files and NYS Department of Transportation 1:24,000-scale and 1:75,000-scale digital vector files. Boundaries were revised to 1:24,000-scale positional accuracy and selectively updated based on court decisions. Currently, boundary changes are made as needed based on authoritative sources.
