Service Description: I conducted a zonal statistics analysis to estimate the number of people at risk from toxic release inventory (TRI) pollution in the six New York counties of Nassau, Queens, Kings, New York, Richmond, and Bronx. The analysis involved using population data and TRI pollution data to create zones that represent areas with different levels of population and pollution exposure.
By overlaying the population data and TRI pollution data, I was able to determine which areas were most at risk from the harmful effects of toxic pollution. This approach allowed me to estimate the exact number of people who are most vulnerable to the effects of TRI pollution in each county.

Description: Published: August 2022
A vector polygon GIS file of all county boundaries in New York State. The file was originally a compilation of U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale digital vector files and NYS Department of Transportation 1:24,000-scale and 1:75,000-scale digital vector files. Boundaries were revised to 1:24,000-scale positional accuracy and selectively updated based on court decisions. Currently, boundary changes are made as needed based on authoritative sources.
