Description: Wetlands are transitional areas between terrestrial and aquatic systems where the water table is at or near the surface and the land is covered by shallow water at some time during the growing season. Wetlands are characterized by poorly drained soils and have predominantly water tolerant vegetation. New Brunswick's wetlands are grouped into two main categories: freshwater/inland and coastal.
This data is maintained by the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with Service New Brunswick. It draws on data from a number of reference datasets.
