Description:
The Airport Permit Check Boundaries feature service provides access to the Aviation Permit Check Boundaries spatial dataset that represents the combined areas around all public and private airports in Kentucky that fall under the oversight of the Kentucky Aviation Zoning Commission (KAZC). These areas are important because they are used to help make sure that activities near airports, like building tall structures or adding obstacles, don’t interfere with air traffic. The KAZC reviews and approves these activities to keep airplanes and the people flying in them safe. This is done according to the rules in Kentucky law, under KRS Chapter 183.

Each area in the dataset shows the space where special rules apply. These areas, called “zoning surfaces,” surround the airports and associated runways based on federal and state regulations. The dataset is a useful tool for city planners, developers, and anyone working near airports to see where these protected zones are located and what rules apply to keep the skies clear and safe for air travel.
