Created by the Kentucky Aviation Zoning Commission (KAZC) and managed by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), this surface follows FAA safety rules in FAR Part 77. It protects airspace for small aircraft that land using visual guidance only. The surface begins 250 feet wide at the end of the runway and stretches out to 1,250 feet wide over a distance of 5,000 feet. This gradual slope helps keep the area around the runway clear of tall obstacles to make landings safer. This feature service was prepared by KAZC personnel.</span></span></p>
