Description:

The intent of this dataset is to depict historic logging roads and skid trails within Big Basin Redwoods State Park. It was created by on-screen digitizing a 60 cm resolution, LiDAR-derived hillshade at a scale of approximately 1:5,000. This dataset is a fairly coarse-level, first-cut analysis created to help determine the extent of historic logging roads and trails within the park boundary.

Known hiking/multi-use trails and roads that are included in the Santa Cruz county GIS records were removed from the analysis. The intent is that the non-system roads included in this dataset are indeed relics from previous land management practices, with the primary practice being timber extraction.

No ground-truthing has been conducted on this dataset, so the accuracy of this product has not been measured and it should be used with caution.
