Description: The Pedestrian Level of Traffic Stress (PLTS) analysis estimates the level of comfort for people walking on a given roadway
segment. PLTS helps identify where “gaps” or deficiencies in a pedestrian network exist, and provides a measure of how
likely pedestrians are to use the facility, based on ability and comfort level.
BLTS 1 - All Ages and AbilitiesBLTS 2 - Average Adult
BLTS 3 - Confident Adult
BLTS 4 - Fearless Adult
The following fields are included in the data:
| Field | Alias | Description |
| STR_NAME | Street Name | Street name from centerline data |
| F_FN_Class | Functional Class | Functional classification from centerline data |
| Speed | Speed | Posted speed limit in miles per hour from centerline data |
| Lanes | Number of Lanes | Number of travel lanes from centerline data |
| Miles | Miles | Segment length in miles. |
| AADT | AADT | Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) from centerline data |
| OneWay | One Way Street (1=Yes) | 1 indicates one-way travel on the segment, 0 otherwise |
| OnStrPark | On-Street Parking (1=Yes) | 1 indicates on-street parking on the segment, 0 otherwise |

| Sidewalk_Buffer_Type | Sidewalk Buffer Type | The type of buffer for the sidewalk |
| Sidewalk_Buffer_Width | Sidewalk Buffer Width | The width of the buffer for the sidewalk |
| Trail_Width | Trail Width | The width of the trail in feet |
| Sidewalk_Condition | Sidewalk Condition | The sidewalk condition |
| Sdwk_Width_Max_Fin | Sidewalk Width | The width of the sidewalk in feet |
| Walk_LTS_Score_Combined | Walk LTS Score | Pedestrian Level of Traffic Stress (PLTS) considering roadway characteristics like sidewalk presence and width, sidewalk buffer width and type, posted speed limit, and number of travel lanes. PLTS scores classify road segments into one of four levels of traffic stress and, while similar to bicycle LTS scores, PLTS considers the level of attention required in addition to the user experience: 1) PLTS 1 represents roadways where pedestrians of all ages and abilities would feel comfortable walking and require little attention to traffic. 2) PLTS 2 represents slightly less comfortable roadways that require more attention to traffic and are suitable for children over 10, teens and adults. 3) PLTS 3 represents moderately uncomfortable roadways, where most able‐bodied adults would feel uncomfortable but safe. 4) PLTS 4 represents high traffic stress and would be used only by able‐bodied adults with limited route choices. |
