Description: This polygon feature class is identical to the polygon that identifies the county boundary as determined by using geographic features such as rivers, mountain crests, and the center between the banks of the Puget Sound. In areas that couldn't be determined by geographic features the tax parcels were used. This is listed in the attribute field "source." It should be noted that this boundary may not reflect what is mentioned in the legal description and is based entirely on geographic features with the known exceptions noted in the Supplemental Information section of this metadata. Note: The Geographic boundaries based on rivers change over time as the course of rivers couse also changes. The exception is if the change was caused by a catastrophic event that occurred during a short period of time such as a flood. 2010 liDAR and 2' contours were used to create the boundaries between counties that followed the center of river banks.
