App State Lake Notes4/16/2021Today Daniel Gryder and I located the storm drains to add to the work performed by Rochester for the App State lake around 2016. We had to make a number of assumptions since most of the junction boxes, and drop inlets were inaccessible, for a number of reasons. I feel more field work needs to be done for further conformation, maybe a camera. Fieldwork 4/16/2021Physical Plant Drawing Folder2/25/2020 This storm water data around the Leon Lavine Hall of Health Sciences, has been updated using a georeferenced PDFs, such as C400, C403, C500, a land survey 02/04/2020 by Allen geomatics job 1234 last revised 07-17-2020 336-998-0215 L-3810. Jeffery C. Allen. Also, CAD drawings were used; however, could not be properly converted into GIS since X refs were missing. Field verification from the mechanical shop is a must to ensure accuracy of contracted performed work.5/30/2019 Rivers Street paving may affect access it appears they are putting metal covers over accesses to manholes hopefully we will get the data of what NC dot has done.2/19/2019: Monday 2/18/2019 Eric Greer and Daniel Gryder did some field work and camera work between Varsity and Rankin Science. They found degraded pipes, and pipes full of water and debris. It appears some of the pipes have settled in the middle so there is a belly in them, reducing the slope, and reducing their effectiveness to move storm water. 2/4/2019 The Stormwater lines and points on the east side of campus have been updated using four different surveys listed below. During this process, it was observed that the surveys did not agree on pipe size and in some cases location of infrastructure. The best educated guesses were used, the latest surveys, to add the lines and points to the GIS Portal. It appears that the best way to know what stormwater infrastructure is there and its condition is to camera the lines. Also working with stormwater and surveys it is apparent that many of the systems need maintenance. It is not uncommon to see on surveys the message “full of debris.” During flood events objects can enter structures forming damns and restrictions. The Old High School property was surveyed by Timothy W. Caldwell License number L-5232, September 27, 2017, Mattern & Crag Engineers and Surveyers. Data is considered 90% accurate, and data was collected between 8/ 5-18 / 2017. All coordinates are based on NCGS NAD/83/ 2011 and all elevations are based on NAVD 88. 4/16/2018 These features have been updated using a DWG. provided by Davis, Martin and Powell survey, made available 1/3/2018. 6415 OLD PLANK RD, HIGH POINT, NC 27265(336) 886-4821 | WWW.DMP-INC.COM | LICENSE: F-0245. The DWG was layered out by NRLP mapping department. Stormwater inlets typically found along the side or roads or in drainage swales.8/11/2017 Images were attached 1106 of the 1117, points all photos came from Rochester’s many folders and, a python script was run to place all images into an organized folder.3/3/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.The Curb Inlet is typically a below ground box structure with a vertical throat opening at the street level, allowing surface water to enter the box and escape out of the underground pipes. Course sediments settle out in the bottom of the box, so as not to continue down the underground piping system. In this data set 272 curb inlets were geolocated between 8/19/2014 and 12/4/2014, 68 of the 272 entries, no collection dates were recorded. All of the points were photographed, ownership is blank except for one entry pointid63 (59435) (App State University). Sump elevation for all is zero, nothing is listed for installation year, condition, or source. There are limited comments; however, the comments include: pointid63, (57307), full of debris, (56223), -13.00Deep, (56329), silted, (56337), silt mate inside, (9289), leaves, (59435), solid top no INV, (5295), bottom of CI offset, (51582), no pipe flows to 51580, and (51588), other end not found.Missing catch basin features were added 12/07/2016 by Edward Hyle3/3/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.A drop inlet is a vertical inlet allowing surface water to drain vertically into a catch basin or directly into a culvert. Most drop inlets are equipped with some type of screen to keep large debris from entering and clogging the drainage system. In this dataset 822 drop inlets were located and most were photographed inside and out. Data was collected between 8/19/2015 and 7/16/2015, 238 of those entries have no date recorded. The sump elevation for all drop inlet data points is zero. Limited comments were recorded; however, here are some examples of the recorded comments: Silt mate inside, No access -3.5, INV N/A, INV Full of Debris, INV 3.20, DI sets over main flow, DI location buried, DI buried in debrisshottop, cannot see pipes in bottom, 2” Drain, 2-6CMP Vert, 12RCP northeast to building.-5.50, and -3.50 to INV pipe?3/6/2017 Editor Tracker has been added to this feature class. All of the attributes have been appropriately updated and meaningless columns omitted. However, this is a work in progress.A slotted drain or trench drain is used for the maximum movement of surface water off site. Most slotted drains have a grate over them allowing for water infiltration, and keeping large debris out of the drainage system. In this dataset 13 drains were geolocated and photographed between 9/17/2014 and 11/6/2014. The sump elevation is zero for each of the data points. Nothing is listed in the following columns: id, owner, install_yr, condition, and source.
