The trail network was derived from the USGS 7.5 minute digital line graphs and supplemented by GPS data collection where the DLG data is incorrect, or where there are new trails or trail alignments. The data were originally digitized in GRASS in 1995 from the DLGs. It has undergone edits in 2006, 2007, and 2008 to correct for inaccuracies using the LIDAR data where available or the 2005 NAIP imagery where trails can be recognized. Attributes were corrected and updated in November, 2000. Trail alignments were further corrected in 2007, 2008, and 2009 using LIDAR data and 2005 NAIP imagery. The data file is complete as of 2000. Attributes were added and updated in J. Meyer and K. van Wagtendonk in November, 2000. The data is as accurate as the base map (USGS digital line graghs) that were used as the base map, except in areas where the trail alignment could be corrected using the LIDAR data or the 2005 NAIP imagery. The trails network was derived from the USGS digital line graphs and updated as necessary where trails no longer existed, or where they had been rerouted. There should be no overlap with the yosemite roads data, although old roads that are used as trails are included in the trails data.
