Description: Fair or Poor Health is defined as Percent of adults that report fair or poor health (age-adjusted). Dropout rates were calculated as 100 - High school graduation (percent of ninth grade cohort that graduates in 4 years). Data were obtained from the County Health Rankings & Roadmap data set: http://www.countyhealthrankings.org/. Each of the two variables (dropuouts and fair/poor health) were first classified with the quantile classification scheme which allows for a fair comparison between maps because you can compare the highest set of rates on both maps, the next highest, and so on. The two variables were then mapped simultaneously using the bivariate choropleth mapping method. Dark areas have high values for both variables; low ares have low values for both variables. Orange areas have higher values for dropouts than fair/poor health; blue areas have higher values for fair/poor health than dropouts.
