Description: In order to create one large seamless image, hand drawn seam lines are drawn in by orthophoto technicians to create a tie line between each image and the next. These lines are strategically drawn to minimize changes in the imagery caused by building and tree lean as well as tonal differences. This data set consists of the seamline polygons drawn for the 2007 - 2008 NJ Orthophoto mapping project, attributed with the date of each image used, merged into one layer, and dissolved to show the coverage area for each date of imagery used for the project. Please note that several records include multiple, disjoint polygons.
Copyright Text: In February of 2007, the acquisition of new state-wide digital aerial photography and the production of multi-spectral digital orthoimagery was planned, initiated and primarily funded by the NJ Office of Information Technology in partnership with other State Agencies: NJ Department of Transportation, NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and NJ Transit. Funding also was provided by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). A contract team responsible for orthophoto production and independent quality assurance was led by Photo Science Inc. and included a team of subconsultants consisting of Lucerne International, TerraSurv Inc. and BAE Systems.
