In order to maximize the identification of photo-signatures of SAV, the imagery was acquired using specifications from the NOAA Coastal Change Analysis Program including low tide, slight winds, low sun angle, full sun, and minimal humidity or haze.  During the ortho creation process, solar glint was minimized by selecting flight lines with minimal glint.  The delineation process was supplemented by geo-referenced underwater video recordings.  To identify field survey locations, GPS enabled tablets were loaded with draft versions of the 2021 ortho-imagery and preliminary SAV delineations.  After processing of field data, 999 acres of SAV were identified and delineated in coastal Rhode Island waters.  To test the accuracy of the delineations, a user's and producer's matrix was developed (Story and Congalton, 1986).                 <stepDesc>SAV beds were heads up digitized using ortho-photography as a base map.  The ortho-photography was acquired using two sorties (flights) in June, 2021.  Draft imagery was provided in August 2021 for preliminary SAV delineations.  Draft imagery and the preliminary SAV delineations were loaded onto a GPS-enabled tablet and taken into the field to identify locations to collect underwater video recordings.  To insure the mapping process was done during the same year as the imagery, field surveys were done over 13 days from August to October, 2021.  Underwater video recording were collected with a GPS water mark (+/- 3 m accuracy) in order to create a GIS database of underwater video tracks.  Underwater video track lines were created by pausing and advancing the video every 30 seconds and recording the location and presence or absence of SAV.  At other locations such the Narrow River and Ninigret Pond, only GPS and boat observations (using an aqua scope) were used in the field.  In total, 1238 underwater video locations and 94 boat observations (1332 total) were used to finalize the SAV delineations.  Final interpretations and delineations were done using the final delivery of the ortho photography.  </stepDesc>
