Species_Critical_Habitats_for_ESA_FIFRA_Consultations (FeatureServer)

View In:   Map Viewer

Service Description: Spatial data used in ESA/FIFRA section 7 pesticide consultations are modified from NMFS’s “agency-official” species range and critical habitat maps to aid in this specific consultation process and generally represent NMFS’s best professional judgment of the ranges and critical habitats of listed species based on the best available information at the time of publication. For example, existing data were expanded to incorporate associated watersheds where applicable, based on the USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset HUC12 data (https://www.usgs.gov/national-hydrography/watershed-boundary-dataset). These updates to the NMFS species range and critical habitat maps will improve overlap analyses with EPA’s Use Data Layers (UDLs) for marine, coastal, and estuarine species under NMFS’s jurisdiction. Note that the spatial files for cetaceans included in this dataset are identical to those available via NMFS’s critical habitat mapper: https://noaa.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f66c1e33f91d480db7d1b1c1336223c3 These spatial files are included here for convenience, as they represent the version used in the ESA/FIFRA section 7 pesticide consultations. HUC-based versions of the cetacean spatial files were not generated.
