Description: Geographic Names Information System 2013 data extract for Summits, Ridge, and Range points covering the New York State Adirondack Park.
Points were derived from the GNIS database coordinates then projected to Web Mercator Auxiliary Sphere. It appears summit points are slightly off from other, more modern base maps and imagery. This may be due to the point coordinates being collected from older USGS quadrangle maps or that the points reflect the location of label text on USGS quads, and perhaps not the summit location. Elevations for summits above 4,000 feet have been replaced with USGS summit elevation. Other points retain GNIS label elevation.
