The contours were derived from Bare-Earth digital elevation models (DEMs) created from QL2 LiDAR data acquired as part of the State of Michigan MiSAIL program. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Source Data Description: MI 2015-2017 LiDAR project called for the Planning, Acquisition, processing and derivative products of LIDAR data to be collected at a nominal pulse spacing (NPS) of 0.7 meter. Project specifications are based on the U.S. Geological Survey National Geospatial Program Base LIDAR Specification, Version 1.2. The data was developed based on a horizontal projection/datum of Michigan State Plane South, NAD83(2011), international feet and vertical datum of NAVD1988 (GEOID12A), international feet. Deliverables included classified LAS, Raw LAS, Bare-Earth hydro-flattened DEMs, Breaklines and Intensity images. Ground Conditions: LiDAR was collected in spring or fall, while no snow was on the ground and rivers were at or below normal levels. The vertical accuracy was tested with independent survey check points located in various terrain types. Specifications for this project require that the FVA be 9.25 cm (18.13 cm or better @ 95 percent confidence level).</measDesc>

Remaining 2-foot contours were then attributed as either intermediate, intermediate_depression, index or index_depression through spatial selection and calculation. Newly attributed 2-foot contours were then smoothed by tile using cartographic generalization tools in Esri ArcGIS 10.3. Final smoothed contours were visually checked for overlap errors. Topology was built for all tiles and errors were repaired where found. Errors included overlapping contours from the smoothing process and gaps between contour tiles. Most errors were repaired by comparing smoothed contours to raw contours and manually editing line vertices. Other errors were repaired through topologic validation tolerances.  All tiles were merged to create a county-wide 2-foot contour dataset. In addition, the county-wide 2-foot contour dataset was clipped by survey township (TwnRng) with a 100-meter buffer.</stepDesc>
